The Trench (1914-1918)
A unique, first-of-its-kind 360° educational experience - including a trip back in time in the planetarium to see what was in the night sky during a WWI event or battle of your choice.
Audiences are transported back 100 years in a re-enactment of life in the infamous WWI trenches. The horrors of the conflict are implied but never shown - making this film suitable for upper KS2 and above.
A British army private and an officer describe their respective experiences in the trenches, as well as the course and outcome of WWI. Powerful sound effects and music by Wagner, Ravel and Holst add to the atmosphere of the drama.
Travelling back in time to a specific event of your choice will add an extra dimension of realism and understanding to your pupils' appreciation of those events. For example, there was a beautiful conjunction of planets in the evening sky on 05 August 1914 as British forces began landing in France; and a very bright conjunction just before the Battle of Verdun on 13 February 1916.
